a friday haiku

Haiku Friday

My beautiful girls,
their little legs are all bruised,
their faces filthy.

Grass strains and skinned knees,
Kate Gosselin would not approve
of the way they play.

But for this Mommy
this is what summer should be,
just play, play, play play.

They run and tumble,
full of such laughter and life,
a heartwarming sight.

And ahead of us?
Countless days of summer sun.
What could be sweeter?

  1. In my house, with two boys, if there isn't a bruise involved, then it wasn't a success. :)

    Happy times, indeed.

  10. What a wonderful picture you paint with your haiku! I love the photo too. It definitely depicts fun and carefree times.

I'm starting a fun new meme on Tuesday called "Silly Monkey Stories." It is all about children. I hope you'll join in!

Have a great weekend. Hope you'll get to spend some fun and carefree moments with your girls.

  11. They wouldn't be playing if they weren't covered in bruises. Way to allow them to be kids.
